Osteopathy

Osteopathy focuses on the musculo-skeletal system, better known as your bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and connective tissue, and the way all these parts work together to make the body function with ease.

But when a part of this complex unit stops functioning or will not move normally the body is in a state of dis-ease.

How and why it doesn't function correctly can be caused in many ways, from poor posture, over use from sport, injury, incorrect lifting and often bad habits which have been allowed to develop over the years until the body decides it has had enough and complains.

Osteopaths diagnose and treat the dis-ease, attempting to restore normal function and can advise on maintaining a realistic level of health and avoiding those things that may be damaging.

Instead of drugs, osteopaths use their hands both to discover the underlying causes of pain and to carry out treatment using a variety of techniques.

These may include soft tissue stretching, passive joint movements or high velocity thrust techniques to improve and restore the range of movement of a joint.
