Allergy and Food Intolerance / Sensitivity testing

With the demands of todays fast life style and fast foods has brought with it a whole host of disorders which ultimately effect the quality of life and our ability to relax.

The ability of food to provide the beneficial nutrients to promote good health and growth is often inhibited because of poor intestinal function.

By removing the 'obstacles' stopping the intestines from working allows them to function correctly to feed and nourish the body.

The importance of correct nutrition is often overlooked with the effects upon our health and wellbeing having an enormous impact.

For instance without the correct balance of vitamins, minerals, essential fats and good quality water most tissues in the body suffer and this creates dis-ease, often resulting in many recognised conditions and some not traditionally associated with poor nutrition.

Some of the less recognised symptoms which may benefit from changes in food habits are:

  • Knee joint pain
  • Reoccurring sore throats
  • Persistent shoulder pains
  • Painful wrists and elbows
  • Irritating dry cough
  • Blocked nose
  • Low energy
  • Chronic Otitis Media (Glue Ear)
  • Rhinitis
  • Asthma - food induced
  • Lung problems - Alveolitis
  • Oral allergy syndrome
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Abdominal Distension
  • Ulceritive Colitis - infants under 2 years
  • ADHD - it is always worth investigating for food intolerances

To help safeguard your body system and to ensure your food intake is not adding to your problems and making you feel worse, have it checked sooner rather than later.

Food & Allergy Testing available at the Meridian Clinic

Professional testing to determine why and what foods are good for you, and the reason why you react to some and not others.

How is this testing different?

Because the cause of why your BODY REACTS TO SPECIFIC FOOD is identified, and NOT... the food reacting with you!

A true allergy to specific foods is quite rare, the real cause for the reaction to food is intolerance by your digestive system. This is often as a result of the digestive system not being allowed to breakdown food and absorb the nutrients. The sensitivity of the lining of the gut is increased and then fooled into thinking the food is attacking it, thereby starting an immune response far and above what is required.

What makes my gut react in this way?

Poor intestinal flora, which is the good bacteria that keeps your intestines healthy and 'in control' of the gut. They can be thought of as police maintaining normal function, and when there is a 'riot' all hell breaks out and the 'police' loose control leading to a disturbance.

Some of the culprits that create this disturbance are:

  • Wheat products
  • Dairy, mainly cow's milk
  • Lactose, sugar in cow's milk
  • parasites
  • fungal infections
  • bacteria overgrowth
  • chemical toxicity
  • environmental toxins
  • food additives
  • use of antibiotics
  • over use of processed fibre foods

How you feel as a result of this disturbance within your gut can vary from any of the following:

  • loose bowel movements
  • constipation
  • bloated feeling
  • wind
  • tiredness
  • skin irritation leading to scratching
  • tiredness
  • mood swings
  • weight gain
  • headaches
  • irritability
  • confusion
  • joint pains
  • increased mucus
  • Sinus pain

At the Meridian Clinic we hope to identify the rioters and help restore control of your intestines back to the owner.. YOU!
